Ticketmaster and Live Nation to merge

As if the two corporations didn’t suck enough individually, Ticketmaster, the people who charge you shady-ass ‘convenience fees’ on every ticket you buy and print at home, and Live Nation, the world’s largest owner and operator of concert venues, have been given the green light by anti-trust authorities at the U.S. Justice Department to go ahead and merge into a single, all-powerful, tasteless, soul-less, corporate concert behemoth.

Ticketmaster also brings its controlling stake in Front Line Management, which represents more than 200 big-name artists. So now everything is in place for a single company to be able to manage an artist, book and promote the artist’s shows in venues the company itself owes, and sell the tickets to said shows, with all checkpoints in this process streamlined toward the greatest profitability for the company and its shareholders, invariably to the detriment of the concertgoer, the artists (unless you’re Jaz-Z), and the independent music venues, who are going to have these suits breathing down their neck every goddamn day.
