Canadian band sells out, does good

After hearing hit songs by Phoenix and Grizzly Bear playing in car commercials, I was comforted to learn that at least indie powerhouse was leveraging its invite to the Super Bowl ad party toward a good cause. The Arcade Fire reportedly agreed to donate the money they would have received from licensing fan favorite “Wake Up” to the NFL (for spots like one below) to help the ongoing aid effort in Haiti. I was also excited to hear they would be giving the cash to Partners in Health, an organization that has been doing superb work in Haiti for years. Read more about the history of PiH in the fantastic book Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder.
