Estate of Michael Jackson signs $200m deal with Sony

So now who’s surprised about this? As reported by the Wall Street Journal (which I read sometimes, but only to make fun of it), Michael Jackson’s estate has inked a record-breaking deal with Sony Corp. for at least $200 million. In exchange? 10 posthumous albums in 7 years.

Sheesh! How much unreleased studio material could possibly be in the MJ vaults? Prob’ly not a whole lot. Unless people want to hear demos and alternate takes… But does the Beatles Anthology model really translate to the realm of polished dance music?

I’m getting ahead of myself. Get ready for a deluge of repackaged & remixed versions of recordings you already have. (Approximately 10 of them.)

I’d make more of a joke about the shameless post-death cash-grab, but the dude had some debts…
