K’Naan drops by Sound Opinions

So, Somali-Canadian hip-hop sensation K’naan has gone from singing his heart out in the 600-capacity Belly Up in Solana Beach (where I had the chance to see him) to landing official theme song duties for the 2010 World Cup… all within the past year! Where I come from (or rather, where I don’t come from, since American’s still don’t “get” soccer), such a distinction would make K’Naan the hottest pop star in the world. Any objections?

Hearing K’naan talk about his upbringing in Mogadishu-Harlem-Toronto is always a treat. On last week’s Sound Opinions, Jim and Greg get a nice long interview out of the guy, plus a number of in-studio performances, featuring soon-to-be-ubiquitous “Wavin’ Flag”.
